The aim of the course is to develop a fundamental understanding of the organization and operation of a desktop computer system. including CPU, memory, and I/O architectures. The student will be able to discuss the principles of information representation and able to use various number representations and convert between them. Also, he will acquire a basic understanding of the architectural characteristics of modern computer systems, including pipelined s, and modern memory organization. It also provides an introduction to the organization and operation of the operating system software. اهداف المادة:

Main computer parts and Computer generations. Data representation: (Numbers and Characters). Data storage (Hard disk, Floppy disk, CD and BD). Computer arithmetic. Computer architecture: (Von-Neumann model, Processor architecture, Busses, Registers, ALU, Control unit, RAM and ROM). Interface: (Computer I/O processing, I/O devices ). Data transmission. Machine Language: (Machine level programming). Programming languages. Principles of Editors, Translators (Assemblers, Interpreters, and Compilers), Linkers, and Loaders. Operating Systems and Windows. Common application packages (World processor).
